Make the most of your UK working holiday

UK working holiday - find out about the tier 5 youth mobility visa and plan your OE

The big OE is a rite of passage for many Kiwis and Australians but spending 60 hour weeks working in a pub just to make ends meet is not the best way to experience it.

IT contracting gives you the opportunity to earn great money plus the flexibility to travel and experience the best that Europe has to offer.

But breaking into the London IT job market can be challenging.  Our aim is to act as your agent and mentor to help you find the contract you want as quickly as possible.

What are the visa requirements?

Any Kiwi or Australian Citizen who meets the following criteria can apply for a Tier 5 Youth Mobility (working holiday) Visa:

  • Desire to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years
  • Aged 18-30
  • Have £2000 in savings

Applications can be made online at https://www.gov.uk/tier-5-youth-mobility

How do I get started?

If you have 2 years commercial IT experience we can help you.  Working in conjunction with our team of London consultants, we provide the complete package to make you successful.

Step One – contact us to discuss your opportunities.  We can provide you with an overview of the current market and personalised advice on how to maximise your potential based on your skills and experience. We can also discuss your suitability for contracting vs. working as a permanent IT consultant.

Step Two – if you haven’t already done so, apply to the UK Home Office for a Tier 5 youth mobility (working holiday) visa.  This normally takes 2-4 weeks to process.

Step Three – book your flights (you may be eligible to reclaim this expense once you are set up in London)

Step Four – once you have a confirmed arrival date we will consult with our London team to ensure everything is set up and prepared for when you get to London.

Step Five – on your arrival to the UK we will arrange for you to meet with our London team in our Leicester Square offices.  You will benefit from our job-ready services. This includes a tailored training programme to give the tools and tips you need to stand out and succeed in the London IT job market.
